Logic Problem Solution:
What's For Lunch?
The five 6th grade lunchers are listed in clue 8: Jennifer, Tre, the
one who had a Rice Krispies Treat, and the ones who had chicken salad
and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. By clue 3, none of Kelly,
Micah, and Paolo had Jello Chocolate Pudding or Pizza Combos--so
Jennifer and Tre had those two snacks respectively or vice versa.
Since the student who had the chicken salad sandwich didn't have
Oreos (6), in clue 8, the one with the peanut butter & jelly sandwich
had Oreo Cookies for dessert, and the one with the chicken salad
sandwich then had Hostess Ho-Hos. By clue 7, neither Micah nor Paolo
had the Ho-Hos, so Kelly did. Micah enjoyed the peanut butter & jelly
sandwich, and Paolo had a Rice Krispies Treat for a snack (1). By clue
5, the ham & cheese sandwich didn't go with the Jello Pudding or the
Pizza Combos--Paolo had the ham & cheese with the Rice Krispies Treat.
Then Jennifer had a honey turkey and Tre a bologna sandwich (4).
Jennifer's honey turkey sandwich was acoompanied by Jello Chocolate
Pudding and Tre's bologna sandwich by Pizza Combos (2). The five
6th graders enjoyed lunch, and their bananas, as follows:
- Jennifer, honey turkey and Jello Chocolate Pudding
- Kelly, chicken salad and Hostess Ho-Hos
- Micah, peanut butter & jelly, Oreo Cookies
- Paolo, ham & cheese and Rice Krispies Treat
- Tre, bologna and Pizza Combos
