Any of the tennis players who had a victory must have won quarterfinal matches, so three of the four quarterfinal winners were Dan(4), Brian, and Will (9). Since Ray made it to the semifinals (15), he also won in the quarterfinals. By clue 11, Tony lost to Watson in one match; since Tony wasn't one of the quarterfinal victors, Watson defeated him in the quarterfinals. Watson isn't Dan, to whom he lost (4), nor is Watson Brian, who beat Adam (9) in the quarterfinals rather than Tony. Watson also isn't Will, since Will defeated the Greatglen High School player in the quarterfinals (9) and Tony isn't the competitor from Greatglen (3). Watson is Ray. Ray Watson lost to Dan, from Fairchance High, in the semifinals (4, 15). The player from Tidefall won at least one match over Hogan (1), who isn't Tony (1, 14); so the Tidefall player isn't Ray Watson (11). The Tidefall player isn't quarterfinal winner Will (1) and is therefore Brian. In the quarterfinals, then, we had Dan from Fairchance High winning one match, and Ray Watson beating Tony in another; and we had Brian from Tidefall winning over Adam Kite, and Will defeating the player from Greatglen High School. In the semifinals, Dan topped Ray Watson (4). By clue 15, therefore, since Brian is from Tidefall, Will must be from Briarpatch and lost to Brian Palmer in the other semifinal. By clue 1, one of Brian's victims in the tournament was Hogan; since Hogan isn't Will (1, 14), Hogan must be Dan, the third player Brian plays to Will and Adam Kite. So, Brian overcomes Dan Hogan in the county title match. By clue 12, one of Dan's opponents is from Highdune High--not Watson (8); Dan won over the Highdune player in the quarterfinals. By clue 2, the Highdune High player is Pete, and Mike is from Greatglen High School. By clue 6, Tony must be Nicklaus, and Ray is from Valleyview High. Tony is from Sundown and Adam from Wildlake (13). Neither Pete (5) nor Mike from Greatglen (7) is Woods, so Will is. Mike is Zoeller and Pete Duval (10).
